Weedmat is a UV stabilised, hardwearing weedmat designed specifically for the horticultural industry. It is suitable for home gardens and anywhere you want to stop weed growth without dangerous chemicals.
It is suitable for domestic and commercial applications. Our hardwearing weed mat is designed to help control the spread of existing weeds and stop the growth of any new weeds while still allowing air to circulate. Weedmat prevents weed growth by incorporating a UV stabilised system that stops light from feeding weeds.
Premium Weedmat has heat-sealed edges which won’t tear or fray (watch out for cheap alternatives – hot gun cut edging frays easily). It has been treated with UV stabilisers to last 5 years in the hot Australian sun and features green indicator lines 140mm apart running the length of the roll to make even plant placement a breeze. Abmat Premium Weedmat can even withstand being regularly driven on and will still stop those annoying weeds.
Weedmat is often used in gardens where pebbles have been selected as the ground cover. When placing on a slope remember that weed matting has a slippery surface.
Because this Weedmat has been treated with a UV stabilising compound it is suitable to lay above the ground. Cheaper products that have not been UV stabilised will quickly rot unless they are covered with a thick layer of landscaping materials such as mulch.

We recommend that Weed Mat be secured to the ground with weed mat staples. These are U shaped metal spikes which push through the fabric into the soil below. Weed mat can be installed on top of the soil or below it.

Weed mat is a sheeting material made of polypropylene. It gets its “Premium” label when it is treated with a UV stabilising agent to stop it from breaking down easily in the harsh sun. It can be laid on top of the soil or underneath to prevent weeds from reaching the surface. It effectively creates a physical barrier that weeds can’t penetrate as well as blocking their light source.

If possible, reject the delivery if the items are visibly damaged. Otherwise, contact us asap and we’ll arrange the collection of the items and redelivery of a replacement.
