Why is this umbrella more expensive than other Shelta cantilever umbrellas?
The Asta is a large, heavy-duty cantilever umbrella. The things which add to its cost include the very strong frame on which the umbrella is built and the premium quality Sunbrella acrylic canvas which is used to make the canopy.
Can I install this umbrella myself?
Sure, the umbrella comes fully assembled ready for installation. If you’re bolting the umbrella down to a concrete slab, you need to drill 4 holes and use masonry anchors (not supplied) to bolt it down. If you’re planning to install it into a grassed area, you need to dig a hole and concrete an in-ground base (optional extra) into the ground. Once this is done it takes a couple of strong people to lift the umbrella from its box and slide it over the spigot ready for use.
What canopy shape should I choose?
Choose square for a modern, structured look, octagonal for classic styling or rectangular is ideal for shading dining tables or narrow patios. All provide generous shade and identical functionality.
Is the canopy waterproof and UV-resistant?
The Asta features a premium Sunbrella® Acrylic canopy. It's renowned for UV protection, fade resistance, and water repellency. It is not waterproof. Sunbrella is designed for durability in Australia’s harsh climate.
Do I need any other bits and pieces to install it?
Yes. If you’re bolting down to a concrete slab, we recommend you purchase some anchor bolts from us when you purchase your umbrella. If your installing in-ground, you need to purchase the in-ground socket in addition to the umbrella itself.
Can I leave this umbrella up all the time?
The Asta umbrella should be collapsed in windy conditions. Although it is a strong umbrella and is tolerant of breezy conditions, it is always a good idea to fold it away when unattended or not in use. Also note that when the umbrella is tilted, it increases wind risk significantly.
What accessories do you recommend I purchase with this umbrella?
The anchor bolts for sure. Also, the umbrella does come with a protection cover but it’s relatively lightweight and only warranted for 12 months. If you really want to give your new umbrella the best possible protection we recommend you purchase an Extra Large O'Bravia cantilever protection cover. This will fit neatly on your new umbrella and give it the best possible protection.
A LED light is also a handy accessory to purchase. It simply clips onto a central drop-down arm.
Can I get the Asta in other colours?
There is only one frame colour and four canopy colour options. If you are seeking a different frame and/or coloured canopy, look at the Sidepost Classic or the Queenslander cantilever umbrella, both of which are available in a wide range of colour combinations.
The Asta comes with a 2 year warranty on the frame and a 5 year fade resistant warranty on the fabric.
Warranty is on workmanship. It does not cover umbrellas which are damaged due to wind.
Please note, the standard polyester protection cover provided with the umbrella does not have a warranty. The upgraded O'Bravia cantilever protection cover has a 3 year fade resistant warranty and a 12 month warranty on workmanship.
We generally hold stock of this item at our Ingleburn warehouse but if you need it urgently or are planning to visit us to pick it up, it’s best you contact us so we can ensure that we meet your requirements. If we don’t have the stock on hand we can usually get it in quite quickly.
As this item is quite bulky, you may be required to assist in unloading the item from the delivery truck. If this is a requirement for your area, someone from Shade Australia will be in touch to organise a day that suits you best. If you are not at home on the scheduled day of delivery your item WILL NOT be left at your premises. This may incur redelivery fees.
