The SolarMax 5 Series is an innovative approach to providing professional quality shade structures at DIY prices.  Four (4) easy to install sizes are available and can be packed and shipped anywhere in Australia.  They're designed for permanent installation and ideal for shading cars, pools, schools, children's play areas and pretty much any other outdoor area where permanent shade is needed.

Shapes & Sizes

  • 3.0 x 5.0 metres
  • 4.0 x 5.0 metres
  • 5.0 x 5.0 metres
  • 5.0 x 5.5 metres

* Other sizes are available. These are our standard sizes designed for easy DIY installation without the need for lifting equipment. If you require a different size, contact our office on 1800 155 233.

Note: All kits come standard with boltdown footplates.  If you are planning to install the structure into soil, you will not need the footplates and the price will be less. If you are going into the ground the vertical posts must be extended by 800mm.

What comes in The Kit

SolarMax Shade Structures come delivered as a kit ready for installation.

If you are bolting to an existing concrete slab you will receive footplates. If you are going into the ground the vertical posts will be extended by 800mm.

  • The shade cloth canopy made to the colour of your choice
  • The cable is inserted into the perimeter of the shade cloth canopy
  • Knuckles, Y-Pieces and Foot plates
  • Stainless steel tensioning forks with brass + stainless steel nuts
  • The nuts and bolts required for assembly

Note: Standard kits do not include the anchor bolts for bolting the structure down to a concrete slab. We can supply these if required. Just advise us that you need these at the time of order.

These structures can be expensive to ship. One of the reasons we do not offer this product for sale on line is we have the option of shipping the canopy, knuckles and parts without the steel legs, hip and ridge beams.  In this instance we give you the details of the galvanised pipe required including cutting lengths and you source the steel locally. This can save significantly on shipping costs.  Call us today to discuss this option.

Fabric

We’ve recently upgraded the shade cloth fabric we cover our SolarMax shade structures with to Rainbow EXTREME 32. Rainbow Extreme is a heavy duty 320 GSM commercial shade cloth fabric which consistently delivers enduring strength, lasting durability and excellent shade protection characteristics. It offers up to 95.8% UV-R Protection. Check under the Brochures Tab at the top of the page for Technical information about this product.

Solarmax Shade Structure FAQ

Can I install this shade structure myself?

SolarMax 5 Series Shade Structures are designed for installation by suitably qualified handy persons. Installation will typically involve working on ladders, lifting pipes into position, drilling both masonry and steel, bolting pieces together and carrying our detailed mark-outs and measurements. If you are not confident with any of these procedures, we suggest that you engage a suitably qualified professional to carry out the installation on your behalf.

Installing a shade structure is at a minimum, a 2-person job.

How long will it take to install?

If the Shade Structure is being concreted into the ground, then the installation will be a 2 stage process. Stage 1 setting the posts in concrete and then leaving the concrete to set for the required amount of time.

If the installation is of a bolt down type then it typically takes 2 experienced handy persons half a day to fully erect the structure.

What tools will I need?

  • A heavy duty drill
  • A masonry drill (for bolt down installations)
  • Some long ropes
  • Ladders
  • Hard hats, safety goggles, gloves and other safety equipment
  • Lubricant
  • Spanners
  • Tape measures and mark-out chalk
  • General handyperson set of tools

Do I need Council Approval?

In our experience many councils have different rules and regulations relating to the installation of shade sails and structures. If you are concerned, you could contact your local council to determine whether you are required to get approval to install one of these shade structures.

What is the warranty of this Shade Structure?

  • 5 Years Frame
  • 5 Years Workmanship Fabric
  • 10 Years Fabric against UV Degradation.

What’s the lead time?

Typically, it will take us 3-4 weeks to fabricate your shade structure and shade canopy. This depends on the time of the year. In the winter months it can be less while in the summer months it can be longer.

Can I leave this shade structure up all the time?

Yes, it is a permanent structure however, we strongly recommend that if you are in a Cyclone area or wind area where the wind speeds are known to be greater than W33 that you do not install this structure but purchase a stronger model.

Solarmax Shade Structure Delivery

This item requires us to discuss the delivery with the customer. This is because it can be more cost effective for the customer to source the steel pipes locally. This can save on freight. We can either ship this item as the kit-set with knuckles, foot-plates, canopy and fittings or, with the aforementioned items PLUS the posts, rafters and ridge-beam.

Your shade structure takes approximately 3-4 weeks to manufacture.  Once we have the structure canopy back from the factory we will contact you to arrange delivery. Once we dispatch your shade structure, we email you the Consignment Number.  This allows you to log onto the couriers website (e.g. TNT) and track your delivery so you know when it is going to be delivered.

We do our best to ensure your shade structure is packaged securely and arrives safely.

The cost of delivery reflects the actual cost of preparing the item for shipment and the courier charges.  Shipping for us is a service associated with getting your goods to you safely and smoothly.  We do not charge any profit margin on shipping.

Solarmax Shade Structure Warranty

5 Year Warranty10 Year Warranty

The Solar Max Shade Structures come with a 5 Year workmanship warranty on the frame and fabric and 10 Year UV degradation warranty on the fabric.

Solarmax Shade Structure in the box

SolarMax Shade Structures are typically shipped in skids (small pallets). This is to secure all the parts and avoid them getting lost or damaged in transit.

These skids are too heavy for a person to lift off. The recommended way to unload your shade structure when it arrives is to cut the straps of the pallet while it is on the truck, remove the pieces individually and carry them to the job site.
