Bases, In-ground + Removable , Fixed Base

The Inground Removable Base is also known as an Inground Spigot and Sleeve and gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to installing an outdoor shade umbrella. It has the strength and security of an inground umbrella base with the convenience of a temporary base due to the metal flap that sits flush with the ground when the umbrella has been removed.

This type of umbrella base suits a variety of umbrella pole sizes and has a latch that a locking pin or padlock can be put through to secure the spigot into the inground section of the base.

The Inground Removable base is a fantastic choice for restaurants or cafes looking for a neat alfresco dining installation option, and is particularly favored by councils (where semi-fixed bases are permitted/required) because it doesn't pose a trip hazard when not in use.

SIZES

The sleeve which goes into the ground is a standard size but it accepts variable sized sockets. The sleeve is available in the following internal diameters;

  • Up to 36mm
  • Up to 40mm
  • Up to 50mm
  • Up to 65mm

If you are unsure as to which Inground Removable Sleeve is best for your umbrella, please give us a call on 1800 155 233 to discuss.

INSTALLATION

Typically, installation is carried our by a tradesman or handy person.

If going into concrete the ideal way to do the installation is to core-drill a hole, 150mm round by at least 400mm deep. The base is secured using concrete or non-shrink grout.
These bases are best suited for use with Aluminium or steel umbrella poles, however, we've seen many customers use them on timber umbrellas also.

OPERATION

The system works by fitting a spigot onto the pole of the umbrella. This extends the length of the umbrella pole allowing it to drop into the inground socket. Once inserted, a locking pin goes through the flip cap and the spigot securing the umbrella and spigot into position. A padlock can be added for extra security as required.

COLOURS

The inground socket is only available in Silver and the sleeve is only available in Black.

FINAL COMMENTS

Inground removable bases are a reliable and safe method of securing umbrellas in windy conditions or where baseplates are not suitable. Once installed they are very easy to operate and help cafe and restaurant owners maximise their usable space. They are suitable for use in both commercial and domestic situations.
