Are these weight bags suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes, they are designed for use outdoors.
Can they be used for products other than umbrellas?
We get calls for all sorts of uses for these weight bags - you don't need an umbrella to make use of these!
Why should I buy weight bags?
When you have invested in a quality umbrella going cheap with an inadequate base is a great false economy. Most umbrellas only get damaged when they fall over and most umbrellas only ever fall over if the base is not heavy enough. So weight bags are an easy option to weigh down your base and ensure it will not tip over and cause your umbrella to be damaged.
Weight Bags are available in 5kg, 10kg or 15kg weights so they are easy to pick up and move around.,
How many weight bags will I need?
That depends on a number of things - how heavy is your base and how large is your umbrella. How windy is the area the umbrella is installed. Generally an umbrella with a span greater than 3.0m square should have two x 15kg weight bags. Two x 10kg weight bags should be sufficient for a smaller umbrella such as a 2.7m Octagonal.
What are the alternatives?
Investing in a base which is adequate in and of itself to support your umbrella will mean you do not require weight bags.
Investing in a Sunranger Base allows you the option of Weight Plates in place of Weight Bags. The Weight Plate/s give an additional 18kg ballast each so if you need a really heavy mobile base for a centrepost umbrella but you don't want weight bags check out our Sunranger Bases.
